A prayer shared at a United Nations Environmental Sabbath Program

We have forgotten who we are.

We have alienated ourselves from the unfolding of the cosmos

We have become estranged from the movements of the earth

We have turned our backs on the cycles of life.

We have forgotten who we are.

We have sought only our own security

We have exploited simply for our own ends

We have distorted our knowledge

We have abused our power

We have forgotten who we are.

Now the land is barren

And the waters are poisoned

And the air is polluted.

We have forgotten who we are.

Now the forests are dying

And the creatures are disappearing

And humans are despairing.

We have forgotten who we are.

We ask forgiveness

We ask for the gift of remembering

We ask for the strength to change

We have forgotten who we are.

  1. Thanks for sharing, dear Amira,

Indeed, we have forgotten who we are and think we are the body, but our body is subject to perishing within the worldly change. We are conscious being, eternal spirit, but we have to become so pure, that no matter and dust cannot influence anymore… then our thoughts and actions will become not our actions but they are then done in the will of God…

    Sending love and light

    1. So true dear Didi! Thank you for your comment! Indeed we have become so arrogant and entitled, mindlessly destroying all around us, abusing the earth and the animals selfishly and without compassion…not realizing we are all One, and that in our blindness we are hurting our home and our own selves. Let us remember who we are…🙏 and as you said, let our thoughts, and actions be compassionate and mindful of our spiritual nature and essence of oneness with “All That Is”, and no longer “our selfish will”. Much love and light back to you dear Didi!<3

    1. Thank you so much dear Kamal! Indeed, and by forgetting our interconnetedness we are destroying everything around us thinking that we are “entitled” to possess and destroy natural resources and use and abuse as we choose…as you so well put it, we create hell in our lives and all around us… Let us remember who we are….🙏
Sending you love and light, Amira ❤
