LISTEN TO THE NIGHT

Have you ever gone out in the dark
Of night and sat in the light of the moon?
And listened to the crickets
As they fiddled out a tune?

Watched evening mists rise
Over fields of golden corn?
Or listened to the cry
Of the Whip-O-Will forlorn?

A deep black velvet sky
Full of stars that wink at you
And an owl asking who you are
Who? who? who?…

To sit and watch a falling star
Streaking ‘cross the sky
It’s here and there, then it’s gone
Before you blink an eye!

The croaking of a frog
And the falling of the dew
The honking of some geese
As across the moon they flew…

The scent of wild roses
As they fill the still night air
The beauty of God’s world
Is a thing we all can share..

So gather up some family, friends
And all go out one night
And sit down close together
‘Neath the glow of pale moonlight..
Listen to the sounds
As the mists rise up and curl
And see the rare and gentle beauty
Of God’s precious world

    1. Yes, dear friend! That’s exactly what I did last night, trying to catch a glimpse of the comet before it disappears for the next 6,800 years LOL… but i could not see it… The stars were beautiful though šŸ™‚

      1. Wow never knew this but sad you could not get a glimpse of the comet, Amira. Yes stars are like little angels in the night sky.

    1. Yes, I agree with you Linda, she really does make you feel like you are right there immersed in the scene and witnessing all the sounds of the geese and the frogs, the beauty of the night, smelling the scents of the wild roses, feeling the mist, and the sense of wonder…
