“A message from a Calliope Hummingbird”

Is it a moth?

So quick and small…

Perhaps a dragonfly… or a butterfly in the distance?

What an amazing existence!

Zipping and darting through flowers

At this early hour!

What a discovery!

It’s the tiniest forest hummingbird

That I have ever observed!

The calliope hummingbird,

A true miracle of Nature!

A jewel so shiny,

Such a magnificent creature

In a body so tiny!

Named the “beautiful voiced” by the Greeks,

A wonder so sweet,

With an indomitable spirit,

Who travels thousands of miles without limits

Making him the smallest

Migratory bird and the mightiest!

I witnessed a wonder and a mystery

Of amazing achievement,

And astonishing feat

The spirit’s victory

Against all odds, knows no defeat

And can accomplish such deed…

Why then doubt humanity’s

Enormous capacity

To learn lessons from our past,

And overcome challenges,

To repair all of Nature’s damage,

To awaken from limiting beliefs,

And overcome self serving greed,

To build a world of love and Peace?

Thank you little bird

For your willful courage and resilience,

And your gift of hope and inspiration undeterred

For a dream of a new human experience:

Utopia, Nirvana, Paradise, infinite Bless…

To finally have Heaven on Earth!

Amira

HABITAT: Breeds in open forest and edge, scrub, and meadows at higher elevations in the of western North America; winters in thorn and pine-oak forests and shrubby edges in western Mexico

The Calliope Hummingbird is a tiny wonder – at only around 3 inches long, it’s the smallest breeding bird in Canada and the United States, and the smallest long-distance migratory bird in the world.

This indomitable mite migrates as far as 5,600 miles from the western United States and Canada to wintering grounds in southern Mexico.

This small hummingbird takes its name from Calliope, one of the Muses of Greek mythology, who represented eloquence and epic poetry. Calliope means “beautiful voiced” in ancient Greek.

Que he observado alguna vez!

Amira

  4. Dear Amira,

In nature, we become aware that we are part of the nature and see everything around us like a symphony of it. Gratitude will embrace us when we may have this opportunity to see the functioning of the beautiful nature with their fauna and flora. We see the innocence in it and want to have this peace and love also in our species to take place – may our spirit be like a hummingbird and fly over borders to unite us all in peace and harmony.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful nature poem 🙂

      1. Welcome, my dear friend Amira 🙂
Indeed, may mankind finally grow out of the children shoes and stop playing with the fire…
How peaceful nature can be – we all know – so why we should not become so peaceful? – it is the highest time…
