POEMS & SIGHTS FROM PANAMA for EASTER: “Divine Sea” (mystical Christianity, from a previous post) “Mar Divino”

Divine Sea

Sea

So immense and exciting

As it is for the world

His enigmatic smile

And His infinite gaze.

Sea

You who keep

In your deep indigo

the mysteries

Of the rose and the fragrance.

You, who spring from the Eternal

In image and likeness.

Tell Him sea that

We still do not understand

the messages

That He left us at His arrival

Bread and Fish under the ark.

The crystalline water of that one

Sweet spring, penetrating

In the depths of the soul

Bringing peace…

but when the cruel destiny

sinks its claws, our faith falters,

And soon the light

of the honey of His words vanishes.

Confused in this doubt,

I come today to your mystical presence.

Sea of the poor, sea of the rich, sea of all, Sea of the Soul!

Herald of sea waves

Coated with emerald

Of snails and foams

Give me back hope!

To sing the best

Of His sacred promises.

I want to go back to the verse,

To the short verse,

The most tender and the purest,

To give back to the one who listens

The warm light of the sun

Of His Love,

And His divine assurance.

Mar Divino

Mar

Tan inmenso e inquietante

como lo es para el Mundo

Su enigmática sonrisa

y Su infinita mirada.

Mar.

Tu que guardas

en tu añil profundo

los misterios

de la rosa y la fragancia.

Tú.

Que brotas de lo Eterno

a imagen y semejanza.

Dile mar

que aún no entendemos

los mensajes

que nos dejó a Su llegada

Pan y Peces bajo el arca.

El agua cristalina de aquél

dulce manantial

que penetra

en lo más hondo del alma

brinda paz

más

presto el cruel destino

acaba hundiendo las garras

flaquea entonces nuestra fe

y falta de pronto la Luz

en la miel de Sus palabras.

Confundida en esta duda

acudo hoy a tu mística presencia.

Mar de pobres

Mar de ricos

Mar de todos

Mar del Alma

heraldo de olas marinas

revestidas de esmeralda

de caracoles y espumas

devuélveme la esperanza.

Para cantar los primores

de Sus promesas sagradas.

Quiero yo volver al verso

al verso breve

al más tierno y el más puro

que devuelva a quien lo escuche

la luz cálida del sol

de Su Amor

y  Su divina confianza.
