I invite you to take a moment during this week-end to envision our world in Peace, with health and abundance of food, shelter, safety and freedom for all. Let’s co-create a harmonious human family living all over our home- world, caring for our beautiful planet, its oceans, trees, plants and animals, embracing our diversity, and united in our vision for Peace, Love and Joy for everyone.
In the diversity of creation there is an inherent unity —
As the ocean is the essence of the waves.
— Paramahansa Yogananda
It is estimated that over 2 billion people will be aware of this celebration of peace, with activities taking place around the world.
The International Day of Peace is a wonderful time to reflect on the unity in diversity — how we are all living on this beautiful Earth and yet each of us are a unique expression of life. Being able to see unity in diversity is a key practice espoused by many spiritual traditions — and by peace-builders like Mahatma Gandhi.
Let’s take a moment of silence at Noon in every time zone to envision the world we all want surrounded in Light and Love, resulting in a “peace wave” rippling around the world. More activities will continue through the “World Peace Weekend.”
Peace Day” is observed around the world each year on September 21. Established in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared day for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences — and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions,
slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.
— John F. Kennedy
