BEST ADVICE GIVEN BY A MOTHER:

A BEAUTIFUL STORY WRITTEN BY JONATHAN PETIT, A GREAT NOVELIST ON THE POWER OF APPRECIATION:

‘I was about ten. My mom had just finished creating one of her amazing meals and I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was simply Delicious. Later, as I was washing the dishes, my mom came up to me, ‘Sorry, dinner was so awful again.’ She said. I was shocked, ‘What? No, it was great. I loved it.’ ‘Really?’ she said, with mock surprise. ‘You always eat so quietly, never saying anything. Absolutely spot on! Thank you’s are so very important, and people need to know when they are appreciated! I have seen this play out so many times in my life! In fact, when I first started working for my last employer, I thanked a colleague for helping me with a project I was working on, and he told me that I was the first person in the 20 years he had already worked there, who had ever thanked him for anything! I felt very sad for him, and also learned something important about the place I was working at! For the next 20 years, he was extremely supportive of me, and was there for me in my down moments. It is amazing the power of a thank you! Thank you, dear Amira for sharing this beautiful post by Kamal! 🙂 ❤

    1. Oh wow! You humble me dear Anita! You are right, it is sad to know that someone can work for 20 years in a place and never receive a kind word of appreciation or gratitude… what a difference it made in his life to hear your gratitude! Sometimes people take it for granted that “doing your job” is an expectation, or doing your housework, being a parent, etc.. Thank you dear friend, you touched my heart with this story and with your kind sentiments! <3.
