INSPIRATIONAL LEGENDS: “Onion heart” (Leyendas inspiracionales: “Corazón de cebolla”)

“Onion heart”

Once there was an orchard full of vegetables, fruit trees, and all kinds of plants. Like all the orchards,  it was full of refreshing beauty and serenity.

That’s why it was nice to sit in the shade of any tree to contemplate all that greenery and listen to the song of the birds.

One day, some very special onions started to be born. Each one had a different color: red, yellow, blue, green, …

The fact is that the colors were so dazzling that they all attracted attention, and everyone wanted to know the cause of such a mysterious glow. After great investigations they managed to discover that each onion had inside, in the core of their heart, a precious stone.

One had an emerald, the other a ruby, the other a topaz, and so on.

A true wonder!

But, for some incomprehensible reason, that was seen as something dangerous and intolerable. Therefore, the beautiful onions had to start hiding their precious and intimate stone. They put layers and more layers to cover it, to hide how they truly were inside.

Some onions came to have so many layers that they no longer remembered how beautiful they actually were so deeply underneath.

Some did not even remember why they had put on the first layers to begin with.

Little by little they were becoming common onions, without that special charm they once had.

One day a little girl passed by, who liked to sit in the shade of the garden. Her innocence allowed her to discover what was inside the onions and understand their language. She began to ask each one: Why are you not on the outside as you are inside?

The onions were saying: “They forced me to be like that. They were putting layers on me. I put on  layers myself to hide my precious stone. “

Hearing these answers, the girl saddened and began to cry.

And the story says, since then, that is the explanation of why everyone cries when an onion opens its heart.

The same happens to human beings, we put layers to protect ourselves and we forget the wonderful true essence that we are.

Today is a good day to start taking off the layers that hide our beauty,.

And you, will you decide to start today?

We cry when we open our heart, for we have to take off all the layers that hide our beauty – our “precious and intimate stone” that is our soul. Thank you for sharing so much beauty and wisdom! 🙂 ❤

    1. Thank you so much dear Manuela! Yes, so true! We forget we have that precious light inside, our glowing souls. We seem to experience amnesia, because we don’t even remember who we are at that Soul level. Thank you for your beautiful comment dear friend, I am glad you enjoyed this story 🙂 ❤
