HAIKU NATURE POEMS: “Summer afternoon: A cicade” (“Tarde de verano: Una cigarra”)

“Summer afternoon”

Intense heat: a cicada screeches,

But the rest of nature sleeps…

It’s siesta time!

“Tarde de verano”

Calor intenso: un chillido de cigarra,

Pero el resto de la naturaleza duerme…

¡Es la hora de siesta!

Wow, I’d never heard of these before, so of course, never ‘heard’ one either! They are so loud! Thank you for sharing Amira and teaching me more wonders of our amazing world. ❤

    1. Oh, I am glad to hear that dear Trina! Yes, I remember them as a part of our summers growing up, and in the silence when all nature seems to sleep, when is really hot, all you can hear are the cicadas even from far away… it becomes a memory of summer 🙂
They also have different sounds and much longer screeches accompanied by several shorter ones.

These bring back memories of some of my childhood spent growing up in Texas! 🙂
