POEMS: “If I changed” by Ana María Rabatté y Cervi (“Si yo cambiara”)

“If I changed”

If I changed my way of thinking towards others,
I would feel serene.
If I changed my way of acting before others,
It would make them happy.
If I accept everyone as they are,
I would suffer less.
If I accept myself as I am, taking away my faults,
how much would my home improve, my environment?
If I fully understood my mistakes,
I would be humble.
If I always wish the good for others,
I would be happy.
If I found the positive in all,
Life would be more worth living.
If I loved the world,
I would change it.
If I realized that, by hurting others,
The first one hurt is me.
If I criticized less and loved more …
if I changed …

I would change the world!

Me sentiría sereno.
